"Take-nuri" is a very Traditional Urushi technique of the Tsuruoka district in Yamagata
prefecture. This technique was created rowards the end of the Edo period of Japan.
"TAKE-NURI" is a handcrafted bamboo shape painted with Urushi Lacquer.

"Take-nuri" art form expresses the grace and elegance of bamboo coated with Urushi lacquer.
The famous Sailor "King of Pens" in ebonite material is chosen and skillfully hand crafted
into the bamboo profile. Several Layers of Urushi lacquer are then applied to produce the
desired special effect. There are 35 processes involved in the completion of these products.
This hand crafted King of Pens "TAKE-NURI" product will only ever be made in very limited
production quantities by the artist involved.
