With its ancient civilisation, China has been home to a fascinating culture for over 3,500 years. As long ago as the Middle Ages, people in faraway Europe spoke of Chinese art with the utmost admiration. In addition to exquisite porcelain and fine silks, there were stories of a mysterious stone, more precious than any jewel, crafted in China by expert hands: jade From time immemorial jade has been revered in China as the stone of the sky - Yu. The great Confucius - one of the most influential thinkers in this vast country betwveen the Amur, Pamir and Yellow Sea - celebrated the beauty, elegance and energy of jade in his poetry.

During the time of the Qing Dynasty, and particularly during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong (1736- 1796), Chinese craftsmen created jade sculptures and more everyday items of incalculable value.

Montblanc has revived this tradition and, as a tribute to the great art of that era, has created its own small masterpiece: the Montblanc Limited Edition Qing Dynasty. It elegantly combines the finest European craftsmanship with China's superlative artistic tradition in an exclusive writing instrument that will delight enthusiasts and collectors alike.

The Montblanc Limited Edition Qing Dynasty is a tribute to the great masters of the art of jade carving in the second half of the last millennium. Their art provided both the inspiration and the challenge for Montblanc's master craftsmen.

One thing really interesting about this limited edition is that every piece will be different . Jade is a natural stone and it has many variation in colours and shades. Some will be lighter and some will be darker.  In any case, every piece will be one of a kind :-)

The cap of the fountain pen is made from carefully selected jade, carved by hand in accordance with the great Chinese tradition of jade carving. It is decorated with the classic Asian symbol for happiness, strength and longevity - a dragon with five claws. The mysterious green of the jade contrasts elegantly with the light reflected off the gold-plated trim.

The ivory-coloured Montblanc star adds the finishing touch to this unique writing instrument and provides a stylish counterpoint to the handcrafted, individually tested 18 carat gold nib. Continuing the theme of Chinese mythology and culture, the nib is also adorned with a five-clawed dragon. The uniqueness of the Limited Edition Qing Dynasty is guaranteed by the edition number engraved on each exclusive writing instrument.
