Visconti Limited Edition IL Magnifico Egyptian Marble Fountain Pen
Visconti Limited Edition IL Magnifico Egyptian Marble Fountain Pen
Visconti presents the Sixth Edition of the Il Magnifico collection dedicated to Lorenzo de Medici, this time in the straw-colored hue of Egyptian marble in a Limited Edition of 188 pieces.
“Art is above all what we call the sound of the soul singing; it is the close connection to the universe and to life itself.” - Yahya Haqqi
The Il Magnifico Egyptian Marble Collection, dedicated to Lorenzo de Medici, celebrates the most powerful and enthusiastic patron of Renaissance culture in Italy during his reign as ruler of the Florentine Republic. As a patron of the arts, he is best known for his sponsorship of artists such as Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo, who, along with other great Renaissance artists, created outstanding works of both art and science by exploring nature and precious materials.
The cap and blind cap of the pen are made of bronze and are decorated with engravings of the Lily of Florence, the symbol of the Medici ruler’s coat of arms during the Renaissance. This pen is not only a tribute to that magnificent period, but also a cultural nod to the extraordinary Egyptian marble which was employed in many beautiful Renaissance and Baroque inlaid works of art in Italy. The barrel’s irregular golden-yellow pattern comes from deposits of minerals that existed in the limestone before it was affected by extreme heat and pressure from the earth’s crust.
