Somewhere deep in the jungle, eyes flash in the night as tigers stalk through the shadows. These formidable felines inspired the latest in the Dobutsu to Gekkou series by Sailor, meaning “Animals in the Moonlight.” Artist Ikki Moroike brings the Tora to Gekkou “Tiger in the Moonlight” design to life with remarkable craftsmanship showing two fierce tigers on the banks of a rippling river, baring their fangs under a full moon. Moonlight itself has always fascinated Humankind and its special artistic impressions have been well documented over time.
Sailor Pen is pleased to announce a series of special Limited Edition maki-e Fountain Pens entitled “Animals in the Moonlight” or “Dobutsu to Gekkou”. The third model in the series by artist Ikki Moroike is titled “Tiger in the Moonlight” or “Tora to Gekkou”.
The King of Pens "Tora to Gekkou" is available exclusively through authorized Sailor Bespoke dealers. Limited to 50 pieces worldwide. Urushi lacquer is made of sap from trees grown only in East Asian countries that take 15 years to reach maturity. After years of patience and care, the sap is then harvested and mixed into lacquer, hand applied to the ebonite pen surface, and kept in high humidity until it sets into a lustrous finish that is waterproof and extraordinarily durable.
