Faber Castell 2015 Pen of the Year was inspired by the impressive architecture of the “New Palace” the “Sanssouci, Potsdam”. Built by Frederick II the Great 1712 - 1786 known as the King of Prussia and Elector of Brandenburg . It has Magnificent ballrooms, impressive Galleries – to ensure that guests from the German and European aristocracy could celebrate in style. Precious decorative natural stones from Silesia played a special role in this splendour and wall coverings made from multi-coloured marble, floors inlaid with jasper, amethyst and serpentine

There are two editions of this Pen of the Year 2015. The 24-carat gold plating with green serpentine and rare chrysoprase and the platinum-plated barrel and cap are adorned by four green Silesian serpentines and a Russian smoky quartz .
