Recognized in her own time and country as one of the most significant Modernist writers, Virginia Woolf resurfaced into eminence in the 1970s when her essay A Room of One’s Own (1929) became a mainstay of Feminist criticism. Her other works, among them Mrs. Dalloway (1925), To The Lighthouse (1927), and Orlando (1928) are the evidence of her status as a major lyrical voice of the English language. Her experiments with stream-of-consciousness, fractures in chronology, and the psychological motives of character continue to influence writers today. Montblanc’s 2006 Writer’s Edition is a medium-sized piston-filler with gold-plated fillings. The black resin barrel is textured with a fine wave guilloché—a subtle reference to Woolf’s 1931 novel The Waves, a literary experiment composed of the thoughts of six characters. The classic colors of gold and black are finished with a settled ruby on the curved clip.
